Intro
Year two of Topps back on the Premier League. After a first season that leaned heavily on nostalgia — the Merlin lineage, the playground swapping, the elusive number one — the 2026/27 Flagship release goes bigger on the modern hobby side: deeper autograph lists, more case hits, and the return of Topps' Chrome technology to the competition.
It's also the first Premier League release of the post-World Cup season, arriving as the league restarts a week later than usual. Note: this is trading cards, not stickers — Topps' Premier League sticker album for 2026/27 hasn't been announced at time of writing.
Following a club that came up from the Championship this year? Pair this with the Panini EFL 2025/26 album to track the promoted sides across both competitions.
What's in the album
Base set: 300 cards. Cards 1–20 are Future Stars, highlighting the league's emerging talent — Max Dowman, Estêvão Willian, Rio Ngumoha, Harry Gray and others. Cards 21–300 cover the squads of all 20 clubs, with rookies flagged throughout.
The 2026/27 line-up includes the three promoted sides — Coventry City, Ipswich Town and Hull City — alongside the seventeen clubs that stayed up.
Common inserts: Beast Mode, Nitro Boost, Flying the Flag, Stars of the Premier League.
Uncommon inserts: 8-Bit Ballers, Remember the Name, Retro Threads.
Chrome Classics: 25 cards of retired stars on throwback designs, with two guaranteed in every Hobby box.
Autographs and memorabilia: 165 base autographs form the main signature set, supported by Future Stars, Dual, Chrome Classics, Black Edge and format-exclusive autograph lines. The standout is the Hobby-exclusive 25 Years Champions set — 15 hard-signed cards numbered to 25, honouring the 2001/02 Arsenal side. Memorabilia comes via the Base Relics line, plus Autograph Relics and Premier Class Autograph Relics.
Variants & specials
The parallel structure is where this release gets complicated, and it's the main thing collectors need help tracking.
Retail parallels run through a Sparkle Foil and Mini-Diamond Foil rainbow, from a common unnumbered PL Parallel through numbered tiers down to a FoilFractor 1-of-1.
Voltage parallels are tied to specific retail formats — useful to know if you're chasing one: Blue in the Super Tin, Green in the Value Blaster, Pink in the Mega Tin, Purple in the Mega Multi-Pack, Yellow in the Eco Pack.
Hobby parallels use a Rainbow Foil rainbow instead, plus a Netbuster numbered to 38 and a FoilFractor 1-of-1.
Short prints: All Kings, Diamond Rookies (just 5 cards) and ULTRA Beast Mode are the toughest pulls in the base release. Gold Lion is a 20-card insert falling roughly 1 in 12 packs, topped by the True Gold Lion — a 1-of-1 card made with 24-karat gold, issued as a redemption.
About the competition
The 2026/27 campaign is the 35th Premier League season and the 128th season of top-flight English football. It runs from 22 August 2026 to 30 May 2027 — pushed back a week at both ends to accommodate the summer World Cup.
Arsenal begin as defending champions. Coventry City, Ipswich Town and Hull City come up from the Championship; the summer transfer window closes on 31 August 2026, so early-season squad cards will already be out of date in places — a familiar frustration, and one reason the base set is worth completing before the January window.
Swapping notes
Cards behave differently from stickers when it comes to swapping. The 300-card base set is the part most collectors actually try to complete, and it's very swappable — duplicates pile up fast, especially from Display boxes and blasters.
The inserts and parallels are a different game. Anything numbered, any case hit, and anything from the autograph or relic lines sits closer to trading than swapping, and value varies enormously by player.
Our advice for listing: keep base cards and inserts in separate lists on your profile. Base-for-base swaps go through quickly; parallel swaps need a conversation. List your doubles and we'll flag the matches.
